Vocational education, advices and publications

Catharina Kat has in recent years fulfilled several positions as lecturer in employment law. She was lecturer in employment law at the Institute for Social Law in Utrecht and with the Faculty for Social Sciences at the University of Tilburg. At this moment she teaches employment law at the VU Law Academy in Amsterdam.

Catharina was also for many years lecturer in the Code of Conduct with the Dutch Bar Association and a part of the commission which advised the Dutch Bar Association on the curriculum of the employment law course in the professional training of solicitors.

In 2011 Catharina Kat, together with a colleague, wrote a report on collective bargaining and employment relations for the Labour Law Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA). Earlier she wrote, as a national reporter, for the Ligue Internationale du Droit de la Concurrence (LIDC), a report on employee’s competition. She also worked as an author on several books about employment law.

Conflict Intermediary

According to Catharina Kat to facilitate a problem solving discussion between the parties involved is one of the primary tasks of a solicitor. She also works as conflict intermediary and is therefore familiar with mediation as a method of solving conflicts.
